Q. What is the Point Inside™ Wish List feature?
A. The Point Inside Wish List is like having a personal gift registry in any store, in any mall. You can now see a product you like, instantly capture the product’s information via bar code scan, and build your own Wish List within the Point Inside app. You can also view and share your List with family and friends by publishing it to your Wall on Facebook™.
Q. What devices is the Wish List feature available on?
A. The Wish List feature is currently available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Note, if you do not have a camera on your device, you can tap “next” when you add an item to enter in the product information yourself. The Android version is currently under development.
Q. How do I use the Point Inside Wish List feature?
A. Step 1: Once in the Point Inside App, designate your mall of choice
Step 2: Tap the “Wishes” button to create your list
Step 3: Tap the “+” button to choose an item
Step 4: Select your store
Step 5: Either scan your items bar code or tap the “Next” button at the bottom right
Step 6: Add or edit product information including store name, quantity, unit price, product brand, product name, description and adding your own comments
Step 7: Tap “done”
Step 8: View your item(s) in your very own Wish List
Step 9: To share your Wish List, tap the “Sharing” button
Step 10: Tap “Login” to login to your Facebook account and once you’re logged in, tap the screen main screen
Step 11: Customize the message that will be posted to your Wall along with a link to your Wish List and then tap “Share”
Q. Do I need connectivity (Wifi or 3G/4G network)?
A. The bar code scanner and the sharing features do require connectivity. However if you find yourself without connectivity, you can still add items by bypassing the bar code scanner (tap “next”) and entering the item information yourself.
Q. Can I edit my Wish list?
A. Yes! Within the App you can edit your Wish List by going to list view and tapping the “Edit” button. Then click the red circle next to the item you would like to delete and tap “delete.” When you’re finished tap “done.”
Q. Can I change information to edit a specific item?
A. Yes! Start from the list view and click on a specific item. Next tap “edit.” You can then edit any field. Tap “done” when finished.
Q. How do I use the bar code scanner?
A. After you have selected your mall, tapped the “Wishes” button, clicked the “+” to add an item and selected your store, the bar code scanner will appear. Hold the bar code near to your phone, center the scanner and align the bar code edges with the arrows. Make sure to hold the phone and bar code very still so the scanner can read the bar code. You will hear a noise or feel the phone vibrate when the scan has completed. A couple of things to keep in mind:
- Must be connected to the internet or 3G network for scanner to work
- The bar code must be upright
- Avoid glare and shadows
- The bar code must be flat (i.e. it is difficult for the scanner to read rounded bar codes on a lotion bottle)
Q. The bar code scanner isn’t reading my bar code, what can I do?
A. If you have good connectivity, have held the bar code still between the arrows, and the bar code still does not scan, do not worry. Some retailers do not share their UPC’s (bar codes) and thus do not show up in our system. You can still add items by bypassing the bar code scanner (click “next”) and entering the item information yourself.
Q. Can I add items in multiple malls?
A. Yes! You can add items at any Point Inside mall or airport and even add items from venues not included in our app.
Q. What if an item I would like is not in a Point Inside mall or at a store listed?
A. No problem. Select the nearest mall to the store your item can be found at. Then select any store and add your item. After adding the item via bar code scanner or adding a photo of the item, you can then edit the store name and enter the correct store name.
Q. How can I view my Wish List on Facebook?
A. After you share your Wish List on the Point Inside App, your Wish List will show up on your Facebook wall. Furthermore the Point Inside Wish List application will be visible on your Facebook home page on the left side bar (our Favicon is a present with a red bow). Your Facebook friends can view your Wish List from your profile page.
Q. Can I add items to my Wish List from multiple devices?
A. At this time, your Wish List can only sync to Facebook through one device. However you can take pictures of desired items on another device and send them to your original device via email and upload them on your original device.
