President Obama mentions Indoor Maps in the State of the Union
President Obama last week confirmed that indoor maps are a staple of the future, and Point Inside is here to make sure that future comes to fruition. About halfway through his speech, The President delivered this paragraph:
“Within the next five years, we’ll make it possible for businesses to deploy the next generation of high-speed wireless coverage to 98 percent of all Americans. This isn’t just about — (applause) — this isn’t about faster Internet or fewer dropped calls. It’s about connecting every part of America to the digital age. It’s about a rural community in Iowa or Alabama where farmers and small business owners will be able to sell their products all over the world. It’s about a firefighter who can download the design of a burning building onto a handheld device; a student who can take classes with a digital textbook; or a patient who can have face-to-face video chats with her doctor.”
It is unclear if he specifically had us in mind, but this is a perfect example of the possibilities our app could serve. Point Inside has mapped numerous malls, airports, big box stores, even a hospital; with no doubt the future holds even more venue types. Just think of how many people can use our information; a firefighter when entering a building, an architect reviewing plans on the go, or in our current market someone trying grab a bite to eat before reaching their departure gate.
In the bigger picture, President Obama was trying to drive the point across that America has so much potential for innovation and prosperity, with our entrepreneurial spirit always creating fresh ideas. Our startup carries that notion close to heart, as we push forward to give the future new ways to shop and travel, all on a handheld device. With the New Year just begun, and with so many ideas ready to be brought to the table, our app has barely scratched the surface of what it can do and the markets it can reach. That being said, we’re excited that Mr. President is as excited as we are for Point Inside in 2011 and beyond.
